Life Ready is a mandatory 25 hour program for students in Years 11 and/or 12 in NSW public schools.
It aims to prepare and support senior students as they encounter situations related to health and safety as they become more independent and gain more responsibilities.
Life Ready focuses on offering opportunities for students to build the functional knowledge and skills for life after school.
At the Ponds High School, we have embedded Life Ready into Year 11’s timetable. Life Ready occurs once a fortnight with fully qualified PDHPE teachers, to ensure our students are achieving positive outcomes. Our focus is on upskilling our students to become young adults that have the resources to make informed and well thought out decisions. Incorporating real-world experiences and examples, allow students to grasp the concepts being discussed and ensures they are able to transfer their knowledge and skills into real-world situations., for example, things to look for when buying a car.
To further enhance their learning experiences The Ponds High School also runs a Year 11 Life Ready camp in Term 2. This gives students a chance to be challenged in a safe and supportive environment. As well as experience a program that is tailored to their needs as senior students.
The Ponds High School endeavours to produce well rounded young adults that are able to be a positive and productive member of their community and with Life Ready, our students are on that pathway.
